Supernote Manta Selected for The New York Times Wirecutter's Inaugural Best New Picks Awards

Over the past year, Wirecutter "subjected 35 dish soaps to all manner of post-meal detritus to test their cleaning chops, browned over 140 pounds of meat to determine the best gas grill, lathered ourselves in 144 body washes to find the squeakiest clean, trekked miles across Maui to test hiking umbrellas."

Tens of thousands of products. 50000 hours.

Then they turned around and asked their editors which ones were "the products we can't stop recommending to family and friends," "the products that make us want to shout from the rooftops."

The final answer was just 71. Wirecutter called it the inaugural Best New Picks Awards.

Not many consumer tech products made the list. A few we like did, Nintendo Switch 2, Sony WH-1000XM6, and the Syitren CD player.

So did Supernote Manta. The only eNotebook selected.

Manta with Wirecutter Award

The way Wirecutter's editors describe Manta reads like the arc of living with a product over time.

First touch, "a wonderfully responsive pen-on-pad writing experience."

Over time, you discover how naturally your notes connect and grow, "clever ways to organize and link your notes."

Then there's the fact that the battery is replaceable and the storage expandable, "ensuring that it'll last longer." Not exactly in line with consumer electronics trends. But we believe it's the right thing to do.

The 2026 Best New Picks Awards were independently selected by Wirecutter. See the full list and how they chose.
